THE VANITY SHOW

Much as I would like to write everything that's been happening in my life from the last time I posted in this blog up until now ... I guess with the busy schedule that I have ... it's not really going to happen.

Oh well, that is why I came to realize that it will greatly help me a lot to collaborate creatively with someone in order for me to make this blog work.

From this day onward, let it be known that this blog formerly known as THE SHOWSTUD CHRONICLES is being renamed as - THE VANITY SHOW.

This will be a collaboration between Glamshots, Vandro and myself.

So, sit back, relax and enjoy.

4 minutes of VOGUE

Madonna is really great in coming up with new visual delights in her concerts. The recent one I saw was in YouTube wherein she reinvented her classic song "Vogue" and updated it with a remix of her duet with Justin Timberlake "4 Minutes" at her October 6, 2008 Madison Square Garden Concert, NYC of "Sticky and Sweet".

It was refreshing to see her with her dancers to update one of my favorite Madonna songs (Vogue) and merge it with another favorite (4 minutes). How I wish there are some more of her song remix performances in the near future ... hmmm, come to think of it, why doesn't she merge her other songs and come up with a totally remixed album and concert ?

WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE?

"Slumdog Millionaire" the movie directed by Danny Boyle which seems to be released straight to DVD but won major awards in the Golden Globes instead is a really interesting take on real life.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

The story of Jamal Malik, an 18 year-old orphan from the slums of Mumbai, who is about to experience the biggest day of his life. With the whole nation watching, he is just one question away from winning a staggering 20 million rupees on India's "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?" But when the show breaks for the night, police arrest him on suspicion of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Desperate to prove his innocence, Jamal tells the story of his life in the slum where he and his brother grew up, of their adventures together on the road, of vicious encounters with local gangs, and of Latika, the girl he loved and lost. Each chapter of his story reveals the key to the answer to one of the game show's questions. Intrigued by Jamal's story, the jaded Police Inspector begins to wonder what a young man with no apparent desire for riches is really doing on this game show? When the new day dawns and Jamal returns to answer the final question, the Inspector and sixty million viewers are about to find out...

Genres: Art/Foreign, Comedy, Drama, Adaptation & Teen
Distributors: Fox Searchlight Pictures
MPAA Rating:
R for some violence, disturbing images and language
Production Co.: Celador Films, Film4
Filming location: Mumbai, India

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Judging from the trailer and movie clips I just viewed, it seems that it will most likely win in the Oscars (Academy Awards) unless of course a really great movie comes along to snag the slot.

Anyway, watching the clips and seeing the game show feature gave me a chance to go back memory lane again. I remembered how it was when I was able to join (my first and last so far) the same televised game show (WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE - Philippine Edition).

It was really nerve-wracking yet utterly exciting being a contestant. Previous to the scheduled taping of the show the following day (yes, it was not really a live show unlike the one shown in the movie), all the contestants were given an overnight stay at the sponsor hotel, but guess what? I didn't get to sleep well at all, with all the anticipation and nervousness I am experiencing during that time.

At the taping studio before the actual shoot, a dry-run of how the actual game will be played was in order. I still vividly remember that I was able to outrun (actually more of a finger-pressing race) the other contestants during the dry-run. What was funny though that because of nervousness, my initial answer was completely wrong to the very simple question.

Anyway, when the actual taping began, I was the first one to answer once again and proceeded until I've used up all my lifeline culminating with my phone call to my best friend who was not sure about the real answer to the given question. So instead of trying my luck with an unsure answer, I opted to just get the corresponding cash prize so that I will not go home empty-handed.

I may not be a millionaire until now but the good thing was - I made the right decision. If ever the game show will be revived, will you join? Now, who wants to be a millionaire?

All Ready for 2009

It's been a long while since I've written a blog and I feel guilty about not doing so, since I promised to write as much as I can last year ...

my excuse? hmmm... been busy doing the works for the G4M-Last Model Standing 2 that I wasn't really able to find the time to do my personal blogs in this site.

Anyway, since I'm back writing here ... I might as well let you know that I have been also doing some photography works (see glamshots.multiply.com) and did a few accessorizing for the "Bahay Ni Lola" photoshoot (a haute couture halloween thematic shoot featuring Philippine Folkloric Creatures) at Pampanga with "ALL CAPS" group.

Also been busy with my regular work in a holiday decor company as a product design and development officer until before Christmas 2008 which gave me another chance to be on television via the morning show of Abs-Cbn (Umagang Kay Ganda) and the taped episode of the lifestyle show of Lucy Torres-Gomez and Wilma Doesnt (The Sweet Life).

With all those activities I've done last year (2008), I do hope yours have been fruitful too.

So until my next blog, here's wishing everyone a very HAPPY NEW YEAR !

WOODY : Birthday Concert Boy

I have known Woody years ago when I was still staying along the Morato area. His group was still known as W2 (composed of just him as the singer and a guitarist known as Wally). I promised to take pictures of them for their portfolio when they were starting out as an acoustic duo.

When I was the events coordinator for Gloria Jean's Coffees Shopwise, Araneta Center, I invited them to be one of the acoustic groups who will entice customers to go in, have coffee and jam with them. They were called W2i (with the inclusion of a new member doing k-hon or percussions). They had a manager then who is also a friend of mine. I still remember jamming with them with my platinum single "I'LL BE" by Edwin McCain, as I am fond saying.

Now, his band is called WOODY, after his namesake. Finally I was able to fulfill my promise and took pictures of the band. They were able to get more gigs all over the metro.

Today as he celebrates his birthday with a live concert tonight at Atchies Bar, El Pueblo, Ortigas Center entitled "TIME OF MY LIFE" with Mau Marcelo (The First Philippine Idol) as his special guest, I'm glad to be a part of his success even by just being their official band photographer.

To my dear friend - HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!

Truly grateful

There will always be times when we become down and sad and a lot of times when we become jubilant and happy. We all have our own reasons for having such emotions and we should always be thankful no matter what the outcome will be.

Today, I'm very grateful to receive the good news which I've been wanting to hear for such a long time since the time my boss and I talked about it. She finally had the time to fulfill her promise and it was given to me around 2pm - a brand new ACER Laptop.

Of course with it comes the contract of having to stay with the company for at least a year more (which I don't really mind), be more productive as ever (stressful yet fulfilling) and to be able to pay for it in a year's time (completely deductable from my salary).

Eventhough I still have to wait for her brother to install most of the necessary programs I will be needing to do my work efficiently, I'm glad that I will eventually be able to do my supplemental photography work and come up with a better output in time.

Now, what I need next is an external drive that will be able to store a lot of my photography files. Anyone who would like to be a sponsor for it?
